2011 Ecoped Pulse Electric Scooter Question?
I have recently Purchased the 2011 Ecoped Pulse Electric Scooter and I was wondering... How do I know if it has PWM or back-EMF <-- these are in direct relation to the motor controller.
The reason I want to know is because I want to purchase a high current relay to bypass the controller for a higher km/h top speed..
if you have any other options I could research that makes these scooter faster please feel free to jot them down!

1 MOTORS
Some motors come with mounting brackets while others require a bracket to be fabricated. Motors with brackets meant for flat surfaces can be mounted directly to either the deck or on the rear fender. Make sure whatever you mount it to can take the load.
There are a variety of aftermarket motors availible for scooters ranging from 24 to 48 volts, and from 200 to 1000 watts. Some motors are even equiped with reduction drives allowing the motor to spin much faster than the output shaft thus generating more torque.
2 BATTERIES
If your out to upgrade your motor to a higher voltage, your going to need more batteries to match it. A higher voltage means more speed but a higher amperage using the stock voltage will only result in more driving time. For example, if you want a 36 volt system, you would need three 12 volt batteries in series with each other to get that voltage. You might find that there are many more 12 volt batteries on the market then 36 volt ones (if any).
12 volt rechargable scooter batteries usually range in size from 5 to 20 amp hours, again the higher amperage will give you more driving time, but not so much a higher speed.
3 SPEED CONTROLLERS
A motor speed controller takes an input from the throttle and regulates the amount of voltage applied to the motor. If you didn't have a controller you would only be able to turn the motor on or off, and nothing in between. It can also activate an electric brake and be used as a battery charger. When selecting a controller, be sure to match the voltage and wattage to that of your motor or you could burn it up.
4 CHAINS
Most people go with a #25 chain, it is the standard for things like scooters and parts retailers generally offer more products for this size. There are also #35, 8mm (T8F), and bicycle chains but these are used less frequently.
5 MOTOR SPROCKET
Most motors from scooter parts retailers come with a sprocket already on it, however you can change it later.
Refer to the shaft size and mounting style of the origional, is it locked with set screws or a keyway? What size is it? What chain pitch do you use? Increasing the amount of teeth on this sprocket will result in a higher top speed but less acceleration. Increase it to much and you might not even get up to top speed.
6 WHEEL SPROCKET
Most rear wheels have a freewheel assembly. This device will allow the wheel to turn freely when you release the throttle rather than work against the motor. The rear sprocket is bolted to the freewheel, and the freewheel transfers the torque to the wheel. Rear sprockets usually come in sizes anywhere from 30 to 90 teeth and a variety of mounting patterns. Decreasing the amount of teeth on the rear wheel sprocket will result in greater speed but less acceleration.
