Car was hit by a commercial buss?
My 1989 Buick Park Avenue was parked in a hotel parking lot and was hit by a commercial bus which was not driven by anyone. There was a knock on the door and told that a bus had just rolled back and hit our car. Then had to go wake up driver and police were called and paper work was filled out. The 86 year old driver left for work the next day and when we went to our vehicle there was a note in the front seat. "Do Not Call Insurance Company Call My Boss he will work it out with you".
We then called the boss and was told to get a estimate to repair the damage. The damage that was done was right rear door was pushed in. Feels like it now needs a alignment and that's about it. Im sure his deductible is around 1000. What do you think i should do for one and how much should i expect to receive. I am not going to get the door fixed. The car is a piece of crap anyway and i am a poor boy so would like to put money in on another car.
Go get several estimates from different body shops. Turn in the highest one to the "boss" of the bus company. Tell him you'll take a company check for that amount plus the cost of a rental vehicle for the 4-5 days while your car is in the shop. If he refuses, then just take the estimates and your copy of the police report to your insurance company and ask for the same.
You can just cash the check and put the money in your pocket. You don't HAVE to get your car repaired.
