Is there a software way to get my Gateway 5207u to show purple LED's?
The Gateway 5207u laptop uses bicolor blue/red LED's for the status lights for power and battery. In older model laptops, I've read that they used purple on the battery light to mean it was charging, but on this laptop, as far as I've seen, it's only blue and red in normal operation. I personally like purple. Is there a way in software to get these LED's to do more interesting things?
No, there is not. Each of the LED's have a special light, unless the light bulb contains the various different shades or the capability of red, green, and blue. It will be unable to accurately render other colors. This is a very trivial matter. I would like to point out, though that with some mods it would be possible. It is possible with some luck due to a little software changes. I am not to positive that the LEDs can be controlled by software.
The other person mentioned Dell and Alienware, but those actually have built in lights.
